About BPNA

A small group of neighbors, doing small things, on purpose.

The Bryant Park Neighborhood Association is a volunteer-run group in Bloomington, Minnesota. We exist for one reason: to make our neighborhood feel more like a neighborhood.

Our mission

We strengthen our community by bringing neighbors together. We encourage involvement and create welcoming chances to collaborate, support each other, and make a positive difference here at home.

In practice, that means hosting events anyone can come to, sharing what's happening around the park, and noticing when someone could use a hand.

How we operate

BPNA is run by a volunteer board of six neighbors. The board meets regularly to plan events, manage day-to-day operations, and keep the organization on track. Anyone in the neighborhood is welcome at public meetings.

We're organized as a Minnesota nonprofit corporation, with a calendar fiscal year (January 1–December 31). Our bylaws are simple and built for transparency: open membership, simple-majority voting, clear conflict-of-interest standards, and a commitment to keeping things honest.

We are organized as a Minnesota nonprofit corporation. Federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is pending IRS determination — donation language and tax-deductibility details will be added once our determination letter arrives.

Our founding board

Six volunteer directors from the neighborhood make up the founding board.

President

Matt Dubay

Matt and his family have made the Bryant Park neighborhood their home for the last 12 years and is happiest when it feels like a small town tucked inside the city — the kind of place where neighbors wave, swap eggs, and show up for each other. Off the clock, he keeps a small flock of backyard chickens, putters in the garden, and is forever tinkering with one project or another. He helped start BPNA out of a simple belief: the good things in a neighborhood do not happen by accident, somebody has to get organized! He's glad it gets to be this wonderful group of neighbors and friends.

Secretary

Joe Bishop

Joe Bishop and his family have called the Bryant Park neighborhood home for the past 13yrs. He is excited to connect with neighbors and help build the kind of community where everyone feels welcome and at home. When he's not out exploring the neighborhood with his dog or tending to his garden, you'll find Joe on the yoga mat, or spending quality time with friends and family. Joe brings warmth and care to everything he does and he can't wait to meet you.

Director

Jessica Johansen-Moe

Jess has lived in the Bryant Park neighborhood since 2019 and is proud to be part of the Bloomington community. She works as an optician at an eye clinic in St. Louis Park, where she enjoys helping people see their best. Outside of work, Jess is passionate about low-waste living and gardening with native plants. Her favorite in her garden is blazing star, which attracts a vibrant array of butterflies during the warmer months. She also enjoys taking her dogs for hikes at Old Cedar Bridge and spending time outdoors. Jess lives on Aldrich with her husband, two dogs, one cat, and four chickens, and is excited to get to know more of her neighbors and help bring the community together.

Director

Kristin Foss

Kristin Foss has lived in Bryant Park Neighborhood for 10 years. She is committed to helping make our neighborhood a safe and welcoming place for all families. Kristin brings valuable experience in education, and mental health advocacy, particularly for our children. Outside of board duties, she enjoys spending time with her family, being in nature, hiking, and photography.

Director

Elizet Morales Sanchez

Elizet Morales has been a resident here in Bloomington for about 25 years. She is a mother to 6 wonderful children and 3 grandchildren that have also grown up here in Bloomington with her! She loves to spend time with family all the time, from going to outdoor activities to watching a movie together. Her and her girls love to do arts and craft together. They have been excited to see the community grow and become a wonderful place, from the new park to the new neighbors.
